Tinkered on the carb to try to get rid of the hesitation. Found a plugged vac hose.

Worked on getting the horn working again.

Did absolutely nothing to the bump, but after 3 years of neglecting it, I finally put my 80 back together enough to be the yard truck, and push snow. It's more a farm tractor than a truck.

Re: What did you do to YOUR bump today?
Made sure it hadn't been towed or ticketed for sitting in the same parking spot too long...
I need to get a new carb and throttle linkage, then change the fluids and tune it. Then adjust the camber after the front end swap (1973 F150 donor) - either bend the radius arms or start over with spare springs. Oh, and then wiring for reliable lighting. Then a shorter steering column to make up for extra length of power steering gear box. And the exhaust - those temporary cherry bombs have been on there too long and sound awful on my 300 six. Then rip the rotted wood out of the bed, bolt in a between-the-frame gas tank, lose the in-cab tank, and replace the wood. And try to pull the dent out of the side-rail - gonna need some guidance on that one! And I might swap the old 4-speed for an AOD - maybe with a constant pressure valve body. Guess I better hold off on the steering column until I get the tranny done - better move the tranny up the list and GET TO CRACKIN'!!!

67 F-100 Flareside, 300, Offenhauser 360, Holley 390, Duraspark and MSD ignition, NP-435 4-speed, 3.55 Dana 60, and it will absolutely roast 30" rear tires taking off in 2nd (the one time I tried scared the Bejeezus out of me)

Re: What did you do to YOUR bump today?
Did more research for how I want to handle this project.
Today's issues; how sturdy is the rear bumper and what do I want to do with the AC duct work in the cab.
My 250 is a CSSC (Camper Special Sport Custom) that came with an "adjustable" rear bumper. The steal diamond plate bumper is mounted via long rectangular tubing that can slide out from right behind the bed out to behind where a full cab over camper would hang. I would like to keep it though I will never put a camper on my truck, mostly because it's at least 250 lbs of ballast at the back and it's massive. What I needed to figure out is what is the tow capacity of it (it has a hitch ball mounting hole). I plan on towing a 16' rv trailer, or my 2 rail motorcycle trailer, or the occasional Uhaul car hauler trailer. So I need it to be able to handle at least 8,000 lbs of towing.
I think what I am going to do is figure out how to weld it permanently to the truck frame and have done with it.
As to the AC; Mine is mounted under the dash in a big black plastic box with two control nobs and 4 vents. It's ugly and one of the vent openings is missing. Plus the pump has been dead for some time because some PO took the belt off it. I know I want to have AC in the truck, so it's a matter of figuring out how to change some things, replace some things, and get it all sorted out. I did see how 460 Crew installed vents in his dash bezel, so I am thinking of trying to put all the vents in the dash some how.
Beyond that I am getting things together to start a page in the Projects section, then as soon as the project budget gets a bit bigger I am going to start in on this.

mostly just stood there lookin at the ole pig, been getting parts for her lately -tilt column, new holley, shiftkit ..etc & so on.
todays score for the parts list: a 92 f150 with mags and new rubber- not exactly the cragar ss and goodyear eagles i wanted but whatever, a complete running truck (4by nonetheless) for less than the tires alone would cost aint too shabby

Re: What did you do to YOUR bump today?
Yesterday, Christmas Day: I live in a small town that has a NO Parking restriction on streets once a week so the sweeper can clean the street. Yesterday I had to move my truck from the front of my house and move it to the other side of the street. The truck would not start. It was about 18 degrees. It didn't not even try to start like it was not getting gas. The battery wore down. I put the charger on it. Fortuneately I could plug it into the extension cord for the Christmas decorations! Went out later with some starter fluid... no luck. I put some gas from my lawnmower can into the tank as the gauge said it was low. No change. Then I put some gas in the carb. Now it started to sound like it would start... but it didn't.
I put the charger on it again. I went out and bought some fresh gas and some dry-gas at the local convenience store (and got a free hot chocolate). By now the temp had risen to about 25 degrees. I put the dry gas in the tank about a gallon of fresh gas and some in the carb and the truck popped right off and idled real nice.
I guess there might have been a little bit of moisture in the tank and line. And this might have been the coldest I started my truck lately....
Now I have to go out and move it back to my side of the street....
Merry Christmas

I went out this morning (Thurs) to move it to the other side of the street and it popped right off under the 3 inches of snow we got last night.abe wrote:Yesterday, Christmas Day: I live in a small town that has a NO Parking restriction on streets once a week so the sweeper can clean the street. It's so nice when these trucks fire right up. Regarding Christmas Day I am pretty certain it was the hot chocolate that made the difference.abe wrote:I went out this morning (Thurs) to move it to the other side of the street and it popped right off under the 3 inches of snow we got last night.abe wrote:Yesterday, Christmas Day: I live in a small town that has a NO Parking restriction on streets once a week so the sweeper can clean the street.
