Where to find truck listings?

Post by FORDification »

After wanting one for some time, I'm finally set financially where I can begin my search for a dentside daily driver. I'm not looking for a project truck, I've already got a couple of those. I'm wanting to drop the bucks to get a very nice original or mild restored pickup to use everyday, one that needs nothing other than a fresh set of plates to drive across the country. I'd be willing to travel somewhere in the midwest, preferrably within 400/500 miles.

I'm not in too big of a hurry here, I can be patient until I find just the right one. My problem is where to look? I spent several hours last night trying to find places online with vehicle listings, but I'm just not finding them. I'm going to continue keeping my eyes on E-bay, Craiglist, etc. of course, but I want some more options. So help me out here...

Where do you go to browse auto/truck listings? :hmm:

Craigslist and sometimes eBay. I also ask around, you'd be surprised what's in the shed down the road. Figure up what an Amtrak ticket to Cali would cost and that market is openned up too. Usually once you get one of these things others show up nicer for less...

In my neck of the woods we have a local buy/sell site where you can search locally or neighboring cities & provinces.

www.searchtempest.com is a Craigslist search that will search Craigslist locations within a given mile radius for certain keywords (or exclude certain words). It also has Ebay listings on it.
03 Chevy S10 - the daily driver
68 Ford F100 longbed - the tow pig / TLC project
78 Chevy Impala - the race car

I'm sorry if I ask lots of questions, there's just a lot of stuff I don't know (yet).

That one IS nice, and definitely fits into the budget, but I'm kinda thinking more along the lines of a F250 SuperCab shortbox. If I was going to go with an F100, this is the one I'd be getting:

Man, this '73 F100 truck is GORGEOUS!!!

Well, with a SuperCab I'll have more in-cab space, not only to stretch my legs out but would have room to maybe take more than a passenger or two with me on a trip. (Remember, I've got four rugrats!) I want an F250 for the capability of doing towing double-axle trailers loaded down with 'parts' trucks. ;) ...and the shortbox just because they're cooler. However, I've run across a couple longbox SuperCabs that sure are purty. I probably won't know for sure until I see it and take it for a spin. :D

Besides, since FORDification.net is now underway, I gotta own at least one of them too....it's time to start educating myself!

Hey Keith, just curious... why a SuperCab and not a Crew?
