My big engine swap plans for last November died in July when another rig was brought in the shop for a valve adjustment and I found the timing chain guides were in pieces. That rig is still taking up my time with a few other issues, but I have picked up a few parts for my truck recently.

My brother has a 2wd 68 F250 he wants to convert to a 4x4 and we found a friend of a friend with his own private junkyard who had a loaded bumpside 4x4 chassis. The guy said he'd give my brother the frame if he (read: we) pulled the cabs off a pair of 6.4's in his yard. While doing that I spotted the divorced NP205 sitting in the guys yard and bartered an afternoon's work helping him pull the pair of 6.4 powertrains and palletizing them in exchange for the t-case. The gauge cluster was in a chopped up dentside F600 cab, I got that in exchange for 30 mins work pulling the hydroboosts and a steering box off the same 6.4's.

The deal worked out great for everyone, he got work done that he didn't want to do and we got a bunch of parts for a weekend's work and no cash was spent.

I'm thinking since the original F600 gauges were left in the truck since they were out in the weather and their "shell" was crumbling I'll find a set of vintage looking Autometer gauges and go full custom with my gauge setup. But, I'm undecided on whether or not I'll drill out and install gauges in the two side circles. Since I plan on adding a tachometer, boost gauge, pyrometer, and trans temp gauge to my lineup that's more than 2 extra gauges so I'll need to add a 2nd panel anyways, so I'll either have a 4 gauge panel elsewhere or 2 gauges in the large circles and 2 elsewhere. Another thing is a tach would be a good big gauge, but I can't think of a 2nd gauge that would look original in a 4" format.

I just thought of this, or should I add a 4" tach to one side, a 4" "quad" gauge to the other, and have my boost, trans temp, pyrometer, and a 4th yet to be determined gauge be the small 4 gauges in the cluster? :hmm: Decisions, decisions.
