EPIC SCORE!!!!

Post by Sparx Macgyver »

Through a rather nice gentlemen, I have scored a 302 and a C-4. :D Pics to come tomorrow.

C-4 is an automatic, and seems in great condition. 302 looks good, though a bit dismantled. Only thikngs it didn't come with weresome hoses, the carb, and the exaust manifold.

Other than being in a few pieces, it looks like a solid engine. :D :hd:

Well as promised heres the photos. Both are '72. From what I see, it should bolt right up. close up's of the numbers if anybody wanted to try and decipher them.

I was told a '72 Maverick. but the only difference my eyes see are the dip-stick. Mine is pan mounted, this one seems to go to the housing. It came off the 302 pictured.

Southern California people:

Does anybody have a floor jack I can borrow? I need one to switch the trans out. I seem to be missing a jack and my tire iron. I need to change the back tire with the spare, too.

The number you pic'd is an engineering casting number, has nothing to do with application. There should have been an ID tag bolted to the intermediate servo. The fact that the tag is missing indicates that it's more than likely been rebuilt. I would rebuild it anyway before installing it.
:hmm: I wonder why a couple of the pistons have been steam cleaned....

Hmm..yeah, no plans of the moment. For now, it's just in teh bak of my truck. Can't do anyhting install or uninstall teh trans anyway cause I don't have a floor jack. Hence I need to borrow one for a couple days so I can do all this stuff.

Very funny moose. I'll be right over!

Well, took apart the rear end of the c-4. Good lord. Strawberry milkshake crap came out. Once that finished, i could see dark gray stuff,a dn some white no pics because a) i put the back end on again to keep it from getting further messed up and b) my hands were really nasy and didnt wanna touch my $$$$ camera.

Now, the color means theres water in it? And if thats yes, then hell.

You plan on putting that trans in without rebuilding it and its been outside with no pan or anything in the dip stick tube.GOOD LUCK,but one good thing you will most likely get plenty of experience pulling trans and replacing them.

No, she will be rebuilt. I have to rebuild the other too. I'm just hoping to get it moving again. The one in there I think needs a total overhaul, and as of right now, I think this one does too. Check out the pics from earlier tonite. the parts llok better in person, at least the ones on the end, and they look a hell of a lot newer than the rest of the car.

yes that transmission has had water in it. the c4 valve body can be modded before you put it back in. one thing you might consider. is to pull the other transmission and use the case fill trans for hard parts if needed. the pan fill trans will be a stronger transmission than the case fill. because of the number of clutches in the clutch pack inside the drive drum.

OK, just want to make sure I understand. You are suggesting I gut the trans the bed of my truck (the one I just, or trans-b) and put the parts in the one still installed on my truck (or trans-a)?

Or, trans-b dismantled and combined with trans-a?

take the one out of your truck and rebuild it. if you need any hard parts drums or whatever use the stuff from the new case fill trans you just bought. atleast it doesnt have water in your original transmission and it is a tougher trasnmission than the new case fill car type transmission.
