Why is it?

Post by Norton »

Hello, this is my first real post other than one in the Welcome thread. As I stated in that previous post, I've wanted a '69 Ranger short bed 390 3-speed since I was a kid and my uncle had one. I sold my '95 PSD and put a new motor in my Harley and that is my main transportation now. My wife suggested to me that when I get ready to buy another truck, why don't I go ahead and get myself the '69? (Bless her heart.) She plans to trade her Fusion in on a new F150 SC next year. So anyway, I've been sampling the truck market for some thime, although I won't be ready to buy until after the first of the year.

So I've stated my "dream truck" above but of course, it's possible that the right truck could take its place... Sport Customs are nice, a 360 is certainly not out of the question, '68 models are perfectly acceptable, and I like the 4-speed/granny gear trans. as well. Here's a thing that I've noticed as I look around. I've been seeing 68-69 Camper Specials all over the place. Good solid F-250's, mostly well maintained and in good shape. But why is it that every one I see is an automatic? I have seen a few, very few, with the 4-speed. Also, they all seem to be that parchment color -- kind of a pale yellow. What's up with that? Anyway, The Camper Specials have all the features I'd like to find -- dual tanks, tow mirrors -- plus many of them have A/C. A very nice package that Ford put together.

:wel:

I think many of the people with the 4spd Bump-sides have liked them since they got them & rearely ever feel a need to get rid of them  but that's just my :2cents:

Personally, I enjoy my automatics... the C6 is tough as nails & a lot easier to daily-drive in stop/go traffic (in my opinion).
Good luck on your search for the perfect Truck :fr:

Later!

i own a 72 with 390 C6 and i own a 68 360 4spd. I am trying to sell the 72 and keeping the 68 because of the engine trans. The 72 has a better body but i dont like autos.
