8), Nothing wrong w/ having a mis-matched truck. Personally I'd prefer the '69 grill to the '71 even though I have a '71, the '70 cab is the same as '68-70 so there's no difference there although getting it registered could be a problem w/ a '71 chassis and a '70 cab. Quite a few guys on here have trucks w/ many different year parts as well, it all has to do with your taste in what little details you like better I.E. the earlier bump beds didn't have parking lights so many guys go with a '67-69 bed so they don't have parking lights. That and it has a bit to do with the availability of parts in your area, if you are restoring a '71 w/ a lot of rust and you find a perfect '68 body to swap onto your truck then you go with it . Can't wait to see some pictures when you get a chance as it sounds like a nice truck, or if you like I can post them for you.

Your new truck sounds like it could be nice. How long you had it? Hows the driveability? How much was it?

The 83/84 engine and tranny sounds like a good idea, and you got a good differential at 3.70. Wonder what that is like with the AOD, Sounds like a nice truck that could have been expensive! :D Hope you get alot of enjoyment driving it.

Id rather see parts mix matched together into a vehicle tat to see one sitting around rotting. If you have money you make it complete, if you don you use what you have. I thinksome of the coolest builds I hav seen are budget builds using whatever could be found and a lot of hard work. I have seen some VERY nice trucks that were lovingly pieced together. You would be supriced how good a stock $400 Grenada 302 can be made to look in an old truck.

what you do with your truck is your opinion. if you want to completely retore it to original then do what it takes to do that. if you want to be something that you want to drive and be comfortable with do that to it.

I have an opinion, if you find a complete stock vehicle I say leave it be, but if you find a pile of part missing edrivetrain etc then build whatever you want. I plan on keeping my 69 one owner F100 bone stock, however I hav a 68 mustang thats baically a shell, that will be a custom street rod. I may get a 1970 F100 it will LOOK stock but have a modded engine. The older get the more I get into stock looking hot rods.
